China Assures Bangladesh of Continued Cooperation

The Chinese government will continue to extend all-out cooperation to the ongoing development activities of the Bangladeshi government, visiting Chinese Vice Minister for Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Sun Zhenyu said Thursday in Dhaka.

Calling on Commerce Minister Abdul Jalil and Industries Minister Tofail Ahmed, the Chinese minister expressed his gratitude to Bangladesh for extending support to include China in the World Trade Organization and strengthening Chinese position in international trade arena.

Sun said China would work for the interest of the least developed countries after inclusion as a member of the WTO.

Welcoming the Chinese minister, Jalil called for the increase of volume of Chinese imports from Bangladesh to reduce the trade gap between the two countries. There are a lot of scope to work together for economic development, he added.

Industries Minister Tofail said China is playing an important role in infrastructure development of Bangladesh by investing in fertilizer, paper, telecommunications and other manufacturing sectors.

The Chinese minister leading a Chinese delegation arrived here Thursday to take part in the first Asian Conference of International Chamber of Commerce scheduled to kick off here Friday, which is expected to be starred by a number of internationally renowned personalities, including the next WTO chief Supachai Panitchpakdi.
