CPPCC Vice Chairman Meets Students Studying in Japan

Song Jian, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met Friday with a delegation consisting of students pursuing education in Japan.

Song extended a warm welcome to the students, who have returned short-term for research projects and to hold lectures, hailing

their patriotic act to support the economic and scientific development of the motherland.

The Chinese government supports students pursuing their education abroad and they are welcome to return to serve the country, Song said.

Song also called on the students studying in Japan to make a contribution to the promotion of Sino-Japanese relations.

To date, some 400 Chinese Ph.D. students studying in Japan have returned for a short-term service program. They have participated in more than 200 research projects with domestic institutes and given more than 400 academic lectures.
