PLA Commander Visits New ZealandNew Zealand Secretary of Defense Graham Fortune and Deputy Chief of Defense Staff Real Admiral Ray Gillbanks met with General Yuan Shoufang, visiting deputy director of the General Political Department of China's People's Liberation Army (PLA), and his party Friday (November 10) in Wellington.
During the meeting the two sides had a friendly discussion on furthering links between the New Zealand Defense Force and China's PLA. Both Fortune and Yuan expressed their satisfaction over the growing relations between the two armies. They pledged to make the growth momentum go on through common efforts.
General Yuan and his party, who arrived in New Zealand Tuesday, will conclude their visit and leave the country for Australia on Sunday.
