Chinese shuttlers marched on in the men's and women's doubles events at the World Junior Badminton Championships November 9 in Guangzhou with all their four women's pairs making quarter-finals.

Top seeds Zhang Yawen and Wei Yili, who claimed the women's doubles crown in July's Asian Junior Championships, defeated Russian due Schimko Russkikh 7-4, 7-3, 7-3 to set up a clash with unseeded Yu-Chin Chien and Wen-Hsing Cheng from Chinese Taipei, the 3-7, 7-0, 7-1, 7-2 winners over Hwang Yu Mi and Joo Hyun Hee of South Korea.

Chinese second seeds Liu Yujia/Zhao Tingting, third seeds Zhou Bingqing/Zhang Lu and fourth seeds Wu Ying/Li Yanzhen also clinched berths in the quarter-finals with easy wins.

In the men's competitions, top-seeded Zheng Bo/Sang Yang, second seeds Xie Zhongbo/Cao Chen, both of China, cruised into the final eight but third-seeded Chinese Gu Jian/Tao Nianyun and fourth seed Yan Pieter/Tri Heru Pamungkas of Indonesia were stopped at the gate of the quarter-finals.
