Seoul Calls for Inter-Korean Military Working-Level Meeting

South Korea Thursday urged the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to hold an inter-Korean military working-level meeting to discuss details on the agreed second inter-Korean defense ministers' talks.

In a letter to DPRK Defense Minister Kim Il Chol Thursday, South Korean Defense Minister Cho Seong-tae demanded that a working-level military meeting be held immediately to prepare for the second defense ministers talks in accordance with the agreement reached at the first talks in Cheju island of South Korea last September.

The letter was delivered to the DPRK People's Army through the inter-Korean liaison office at the truce village of Panmunjom.

At the first defense ministers' talks, the two sides agreed to hold the second meeting in the DPRK this month.

However, up to date, the working-level meeting has not been held.

Media reports said the worling-level meeting failed to open due to their differences in opinion on the relegation of the jurisdiction over the southern section of the Demilitarized Zone.
