China's Satellite TV Having Wider Coverage

China's satellite TV stations have developed rapidly this year and 31 provincial-level TV stations in the country have had their programs transmitted by satellite, including 22 each with over 100 million viewers.

A recent survey by the China Mainland Marketing Research Co. indicates that China Central Television remains top on the list of viewing rate, with its eight channels having about 600 million to one billion viewers, surging four million to 90 million from last year.

The Sichuan Satellite TV draws over 550 million viewers this year, ranking first on the viewing rate list of the 31 provincial TV stations in China, followed by Guizhou and Guangdong each with more than 450 million viewers.

According to the survey, 59.3 percent of urban residents in China received satellite TV programs through cable TV networks while 38.3 of them used antennas they bought themselves.

The survey took sample statistics from 45 cities or prefectures and 88 counties in the country, with 97.1 percent of valid responses.
