Premier Zhu Rongji to Attend ASEAN Summits

Premier Zhu Rongji will attend the informal leadership meeting between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ASEAN plus Three Summit), and the informal leadership meeting between ASEAN and China (ASEAN plus One Summit) in Singapore from November 24 to 25.

Premier Zhu will hold informal trilateral meetings with leaders of Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) to exchange views on cooperation among the three nations as well as with ASEAN, Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao said at a regular press conference November 9 in Beijing.

The spokesman described the meetings as an important occasion for leaders of East Asia to exchange views on the development and cooperation in the region.

Premier Zhu will also exchange views with ASEAN leaders on how to promote the good neighborly relations of mutual trust between China and the ASEAN.

China hope the summits will further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation among countries in East Asia and enhance their understanding and trust, said the spokesman.

The spokesman also expressed China's willingness to work together with relevant countries to contribute to the complete success of the summits.
