China Announces 2001 Plan to Issue Stamps

The State Administration of Post (SAP) announced the issue of 25 sets of commemorative and special stamps for the coming year on November 9.

There will be six sets of commemorative stamps and 19 sets of special stamps for stamp fans, according to the plan.

On January 1, 2001, China will issue stamps to commemorate the arrival of the new year and the new millennium.

Stamps will also be issued to mark a series of major events as the 80th anniversary of the foundation of the Communist Party of China, the Ninth National Sport Games and the 21st World University Games.

The stamp issues to be issued next year will also feature the developments in China's work on developing the vast western region, Beijing opera and the scenery of old towns on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
