FIBV Officials Began Inspection Tour in Beijing

Officials from the Federation of the International Beach Volleyball (FIBV) arrived in Beijing to inspect this candidate city of the 2008 Olympic Games on Sunday.

Beijing will also be the first among the five candidate cities to receive an inspection team from the IOC for the city's bid for the 2008 Olympic Games.

FIBV Executive Committee member Wei Jizhong, who also serves as special assistant of the President of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Bid Committee (BOBICO), is the head of the visiting group of officials.

The other two officials are Secretary of the FIVB Sports Organizing Commission Fabio Sassi and FIVB Beach Volleyball Coordinator Angelo Squeo.

Wei and Squeo visited the site of the Olympic Green, the beach volleyball venues in the Olympic Sports Center and the Chaoyang Park.

It is the first time that Squeo visited Beijing. He said that Chinese people are very friendly and hospitable. He said that he feels at home in Beijing. He also said that Beijing has tried its best to prepare for the Olympic Games.

Sassi arrived in Beijing on Monday. He and the other two FIBV officials are to visit Beijing Municipal Administration of Communications and Beijing Telecom Corporation on Sunday.
