Flute Concert to Be Staged in Beijing

French flautist Pierre-Yves Artaud and Chinese Dizi and Xiao artist Zhang Weiliang will give a concert on evening of November 9 at Beijing's Century Theatre.

Included in the program are Gabriel Laure's Fantasie for Flute and Piano and Chinese composer Gao Weijie's Dream of Meeting for Dizi and Flute.

Pierre-Yves Artaud, an important figure in the development of modern flute music, has won both the first prize for flute and first prize for chamber music at the Paris Conservatoire.

Zhang Weiliang is a professor at the China Conservatory of Music.

He has performed on the soundtracks of internationally awarded films, including Ju Dou, Raise the Red Lantern, and Farewell My Concubine.
