Roundtable Meeting of Academicians Starts
The Shanghai Forum on Science and Technology and the roundtable meeting of academicians from Beijing, Shanghai and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) started Wednesday in Shanghai.
More than 40 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) are scheduled to discuss ways of increasing Chinese scientists' lead in science and technology in the coming century.
Topics for discussion include the scientific research environment in the country, educational system, professional training mechanisms and governmental responsibility, according to sources.
This is the first time for Shanghai to host such a meeting among scientific circles.
