Estrada's Brunei Visit to Be Substantial: Official

The brief visit of President Estrada to Brunei next week to participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders' meeting would be substantial, a senior official said on November 8.

Executive Secretary Ronaldo Zamora said in a radio interview that while the president will be in Brunei for only a short time, his schedule has been adjusted to be as productive as possible.

Press Secretary Ricardo Puno had announced earlier that the president will proceed with his plans to attend the APEC summit scheduled on November 15 to 16.

Zamora said that in Brunei, the president will have lunch with heads of state of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

He would also join the traditional photo opportunity and the closed-door meetings with APEC leaders.

But he said the president may have to cancel bilateral talks with some of his counterparts because f his tight schedule.

"The president might not be able to hold bilateral talks with some of his counterparts because he will be there only for two days," he said.
