Auto Race in South China Scheduled

A series of races for domestic-made automobiles that will pass through Shiwan Mountains in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region will be held from December 31 to January 1 next year.

Race car drivers from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and the Chinese mainland will be entered in the contests, said Ren Xiaorun, secretary general of the organizing committee for the race.

According to Ren, there will be 1,000 km and 500 km races for both professional and amateur drivers.

Awards will be given for best professional and amateur drivers, and bets cars, said Ren.

The auto race, the first of its kind, will be jointly hosted by China Automobile Sports Federation, the regional bureau of sports games and the Fangchenggang city government.

In addition to the races, a seminar, a fair of domestic-made automobiles, an evening gala and an auto exhibition showcasing the development of China's car industry will be held in Nanning, the

capital of Guangxi.
