Chinese, Japanese Experts Discuss Emergency Relief in Beijing

More than 110 experts and representatives from China and Japan are attending an international seminar on emergency relief, which opened in Beijing on November 6.

Experts and disaster relief workers will jointly discuss ways to deal with chemical disasters, flammable toxic gas accidents, earthquakes, and the disaster relief systems in China and Japan over three days.

The fire fighting department of Beijing formed a special team to offer emergency aid nearly two years ago. The team has accomplished 300 tasks since it was established.

Japan's fire fighting team is more experienced in dealing with emergencies since it has undertaken such tasks for more than 40 years.

The Chinese and Japanese governments launched a five-year cooperative program in Beijing for fire fighting technology training.

In another development, Beijing has trained 112 officers and soldiers from 36 Chinese cities in May this year.
