New Directors of HK Chinese General Chamber of Commerce InauguratedThe Chinese General Chamber of Commerce held the inauguration ceremony of the 42nd terms of directors on November at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.Robin Chan, who was re-elected chamber chairman, said the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce will extend ties with more friends in the business community who love the motherland and Hong Kong, absorb more new members and strive for new and higher goals. The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce's board of directors of the 42nd term consist of 150 members, including 49 executive directors. The chamber has six vice chairmen, including noted local businessmen like Tsang Hin-Chi and Ho Sai-chu. Chan said the birth of the 42nd term of board of directors coincides the 100th anniversary of the Chamber of Commerce, and occurs at a new millennium. He pledged that the new directors of the Chamber of Commerce will work together to take challenges in the new era, extending closer ties with business circles in Hong Kong and overseas and increasing economic cooperation with the mainland. Jing Shuping, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), extended congratulations to the new directors and praised the Chamber of Commerce for its contribution to the economic development of the motherland in the past century. Jing, who is also president of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, said his federation and the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong has been long maintaining close friendship and working together to put forward economic development of the mainland and Hong Kong. He expressed confidence that the Chamber of Commerce will play a greater role in maintaining Hong Kong's prosperity and stability and promoting cooperation and exchanges between the mainland and Hong Kong. |
