Conference on Nuclear Materials Closes

The three-day 2000 Xi'an International Academic Conference on nuclear materials closed November 7 in this capital city of Shaanxi Province, northwest China.

Some 100 experts from the United States, Japan, Russia, Sweden, India, Ukraine, Canada, Pakistan and China presented more than 70 papers on the development of the zirconium industry in China, research on zircalloy and other nuclear materials, related manufacturing techniques and future development of the industry.

Participants also spoke highly of China's efforts to develop and use nuclear energy in constructing nuclear power stations, and China's development of zircalloy and other nuclear materials.

Participants said that the conference enhanced understanding in the world's nuclear materials circles, and will promote international cooperation in this regard.
