Forum on Science and Technology Opens in Shanghai
Nearly 3,000 scientists and scholars from both China and abroad, gathered November 7 in Shanghai attending the 2000 Shanghai Forum on Science and Technology.
The forum, with the theme "Pondering At The Turn Of The Century", is held to discuss challenges toward science and technology in the coming century.
Participants at the forum are also expected to discuss innovation, environmental protection, life sciences and a variety of other topics.
About 40 panel discussions and seminars will be held during the forum.
A roundtable conference, to be attended by academicians from Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, will also be held.
The forum is biyearly event. The 1998 forum attracted more than 700 participants.
