Xinjiang to Hold National Boxing Championships

2000 National Boxing Championships will be held in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to sources from Xinjing Physical Cultural Department.

Altogether 35 teams with 111 athletes from provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions throughout China, including those from some physical cultural institutes and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, will take part in competing for 12-grade boxing titles according to a five-day schedule.

As demanded by game rules, all contestants chosen to compete in 2000 National Boxing Championships will have to be those of top five won at various grades in 2000 National Boxing Tournament and those of top two from National Youth Boxing Tournament.

It is reported 2000 National Boxing Championships will be a grand gathering to be launched on a scale of the biggest and the first national top level boxing contest in Xinjiang. As have been set, the championships will close on November 13.
