Asia's Highest Steel Tower Erected in Harbin

Asia-first, world-second, Dragon Tower has been erected in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, NE China. A symbolic steel structure to Heilongjiang, rising 336 meters high, higher than Tokyo Tower, former Asia-first, the tower is next only to Kiev Tower in Ukraine, being the world tallest.

Approved by Heilongjiang Provincial Government, with a cost of RMB$100m yuan, Dragon Tower is a multi-function steel tower built for television and video transmission, touring, environment and weather monitoring, as well as microwave communication.

Dragon Tower has been erected with a floorspace of 16,600 sq. m., including 13,000 sq.m. of basement and 3,600 sq.m. of floorspace in the tower body. Visitors can be lifted to a 181-216m height by a glass-gated elevator to be offered a bird's-eye view of Harbin on a transparent platform 60 meters round.
