Boeing: China to Become World 2nd Largest Civil Aviation Market

According to an aviation market forecast published by Boeing Company on November 6 afternoon at the 3rd China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, China's air transportation service will continue to develop rapidly in the 21st Century and China will become the world's second largest civil aviation market after the United States in 20 years.

The investigation result of Boeing shows that in the 21st century, the average annual growth rate of China's domestic aviation market will reach 9.2 percent, by 2019 China will have 22,000 passenger airplanes, four times the present number of its passenger planes and over 10 percent of the world's total, and China's domestic market (including Hong Kong and Macao) will have more than 52,000 flights per week. In the coming 20 years, China's civil jet aircraft market will be valued at US$137 billion.

According to Boeing, in the next 20 years, the growth rate of China's cargo transport will outdo that of passenger transport and especially freight transport to long-distance markets in other Asian countries, Europe and North America is expected to rise by a large margin.

The vice-president of Boeing Civil Airplanes Group said that China's airfreight is still in an initial stage of development. Efforts to improve the infrastructure of airports and controlled areas, open the freight transport agency market, raise the service standard, straighten out customs clearance procedures and strengthen cargo exchange process between cooperative partners, are highly necessary for boosting the development of China's airfreight market.

Boeing believes that in the coming 20 years the Chinese aviation market will maintain a high-speed growth rate and become the second largest civil aviation market after the United States. This great market potential has attracted the attention of the world large aircraft manufacturing enterprises which all try hard to have a share of this market.
