More Eastern Township Enterprises Dive in Western Development

China's development of the west has greatly promoted cooperation between township enterprises in the eastern and western areas, said a senior official Monday in Zhengzhou.

Jiang Yongtao, chief economist of the Ministry of Agriculture and head of the Bureau of Township Enterprise, revealed a series of figures on the 2000 National Township Enterprise East-West Cooperation Fair.

Up to date, some 100,000 east-west cooperation projects with an investment of 150 billion yuan have been signed, three million people have been employed and 100,000 personnel have been trained for the west.

Experts held that in the economic readjustment, increasingly more labor-intensive businesses are moving westward, benefiting both the east and the west.

With the rapid development of such cooperation, more and more prestigious enterprises from home and abroad, such as the Double Star Group, have expanded their business and cooperation in the western regions of the country.
