Lebanon Lodges Protest to U.N. Against Israeli Plane's IntrusionLebanese President Emile Lahoud on Monday directed the Foreign Ministry to lodge a protest to U.N. against Israeli warplanes' and helicopters' intrusion into Lebanese air space and territory, the official National News Agency (NNA) reported.At wee hours on Monday, five Israeli military helicopters hovered over towns in south Lebanon and two landed at a place near Lebanon's Litany river for a while. It was the first time that Israeli planes invaded Lebanese air space and territory since its troops withdrew from south Lebanon last May. Israeli warplanes also infringed Lebanese air in the daytime Monday. NNA quoted witnesses as saying that Israeli planes flew over some towns and villages in south Lebanon and made strident sound barrier. Two fighters hovered over Beirut and made several sound barrier Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) also lodged a protest with sharp words to Israel. It expressed deep concern over Israel's intrusion into Lebanon.
