China International Air Show Opens
Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of National People's Congress (NPC), attended the opening ceremony, while Vice-Premier Wu Bangguo, sent a message of congratulations to the exhibition.
Li said that China will continue to develop science and technology in the field of aviation and aerospace to shorten the distance and promote exchange between different countries.
The NPC Standing Committee chairman also said that China has already made some progress in this field and the successful launch of the country's first test spacecraft "Shenzhou" last year marks a milestone in the whole development process.
Manufacturers of aerospace and aviation products from 27 countries and regions have registered to take part in the event, which was first held in 1996 and is staged every two years.
Experts believe that the event will help the world learn more about China and promote exchange and cooperation in the field of aviation and aerospace between China and other countries.
