China to Host First Debate on Networks

The first nationwide debate surrounding topics related to networks will be held soon in Shanghai, a commercial center in China.

China hopes to evoke serious thinking about networks, which are relatively new in the country, through this event, according to sponsors led by Shanghai Telecommunication Co. and Shanghai Information Industry Co., Ltd.

Foreign venture capital companies like Softbank and IDG will also participate in the event.

Some of China's largest websites volunteered to join the debate, including Sina, 8848, China Securities Network. The participants are representative of various categories of website like news, tourism and e-commerce.

Topics for debate include whether network media can replace traditional media and whether network love affairs are good.
