Beijing Officials Promote Tourism in Macao

Tourism officials of Beijing held a press conference Monday to publicize the scenic spots and historical sites of Beijing.

With the help of slides of charming pictures about Beijing, Yu Changjiang, director of the Beijing Tourism Administration, introduced some 100 tourist attractions of the city.

What is most exciting is a fashion show featuring the distinctive architecture and handicrafts of the Palace Museum, a royal complex located in the center of Beijing.

"Tourism, as an integral part of modern life, is just the means to reinforce the link between our people," said Wen Ziji, deputy director of the Beijing Tourism Administration.

He noted that Beijing is a world renowned city of great heritage with a history of over 3,000 years. It was a capital of more than 800 years. And Beijing is fast developing into a great international city.

Since July 1999, the Beijing Tourism Administration has made promotion tours in Tokyo, Osaka, Paris, Berlin and Hong Kong. Similar activities will be held in the United States early next year.
