US Interference in China's Internal Affairs SlammedChina said Monday that a US Congress act has interfered its internal affairs under the pretext of the Taiwan, human rights and Tibet issues and expressed strong discontent and firm opposition.Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao said the US Senate and House of Representatives, regardless of the resolute opposition of China, have recently passed the act on making appropriations for foreign operations for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2001. He pointed out that the act contains anti-China provisions, grossly interfering in China's internal affairs and undermining China's interest under the pretext of the Taiwan, human rights and Tibet issues. China has lodged solemn representations to the US, the spokesman said, adding that China urges the US to earnestly implement the three Sino-US Joint Communiques and the basic norms of international relations and to stop interfering in China's internal affairs under the same pretext. China also urges the US authorities to oppose the anti-China provisions shrined in the act, and take effective measures to prevent the act from becoming law.
