National Air-Defense Meeting Held
The Fourth National Conference on the People's Air Defense was held Monday, focusing on China's efforts in this field over the past five decades, especially since late 1970s, when the country launched its reform, opening and modernization drive.
Present at the conference were Chi Haotian, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and defense minister, Wang Zhongyu, state councilor, and Fu Quanyou, a CMC member and Chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).
Both Chi and Wang addressed the meeting, recalling the great achievements in the development of the country's air defense as well the sector's future prospects.
At the meeting, 32 cities, 127 units and 300 individuals were rewarded by the National Defense Mobilization Committee for their contribution to the effort.
