Chinese Premier Meets Spanish Crown Prince
Premier Zhu Rongji met with Crown Prince Felipe De Borbon Y Grecia of Spain at the Great Hall of the People Monday.

Zhu extended a warm welcome to the Crown Prince who is on his first visit to China and spoke highly of bilateral ties.

Zhu said, in recent years, bilateral ties have witnessed sound development, citing the fact that high-level contacts have increased, economic and trade cooperation expanded, cultural exchanges enhanced, and the two countries have shared many common points on world issues.

The Chinese government attaches great importance to relations with Spain and believes that there is great potential for developing friendly cooperation, said the Premier.

China is willing to work together with Spain to push forward ties in the new century, Zhu said.

Felipe expressed satisfaction over bilateral ties and said Spain attaches importance to its relations with China. He said China is a priority in Spain's recent strategy of developing relations with Asia-Pacific countries.
