Finland Seeks Cooperation with China in Information Industry

Finland, which boasts the largest number of mobile phone and Internet users, is seeking cooperation with China, a country striding forward in information industry.

Kai Kunnasmaa, a senior official with the Finland-based Tecnomen company, said that the company is expecting to introduce advanced information technology into China through a cooperative agreement.

Many Finnish information technology companies, including Tecnomen, are well-respected in industries of mobile phone and network technology, electronic commerce, and information infrastructure, while China is, in their eyes, indisputably the largest potential market in the information industry.

As a global provider of radio Internet solutions, Tecnomen has already brought fax information systems into companies in major Chinese cities.

NOVO group, the largest information technology enterprise in northern Europe, wishes to provide China with the geological information system used for land and forest resources prospecting, based on satellite-sent image technology.
