Qingdao Port to Handle 80 Million Tons of Cargo in 2000
For the first time Qingdao, one of the largest coastal ports in China, is expected to handle over 80 million tons of cargo this year.
The port in east China's Shandong province will also handle two million standard containers this year.
By October 30, its handling capacity of cargo had reached 72.57 million tons and of containers, 1.74 million standard units, more than the totals for all of 1999, respectively.
So far, the handling capacities of crude oil, ore and containers have already met the targets for the whole of 2000 ahead of time.
