Kunming to Hold Promotion Fair for Non-polluted Food

A promotion fair that presents more than 1,000 kinds of non-polluted food from all over China will be hosted on November 11-14 in Kunming, the capital city of southwest China's Yunnan Province.

China started to advocate the production of non-polluted food in 1990, a local official said at a press conference Saturday.

According to the official, by the end of last year, China had set up 742 enterprises producing a total of 1,360 kinds of non-polluted food.

In the past 10 years, the country has produced a total of 10 million tons of non-polluted food with an annual sales value of 30 billion yuan (US$3.61 billion).

To date, more than 500 non-polluted food producers from 21 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions have applied to participate in the fair, the fifth of its kind.

A number of seminars on non-polluted food development, agricultural cooperation, and the export trade of non-polluted food will also be held during the four-day event, which is sponsored by the China Development Center for Non-Polluted Food, the Chinese Association of Non-Polluted Food, and the Agriculture Department of Yunnan Provincial Government.
