Beijing Sets Color Style for Buildings

Designers and architects will have to make the overall color style of external appearance agreeable with the whole city pattern when they construct new buildings in Beijing, as required by a rule issued by the municipal government recently.

The color style should be based on gray with regards to the whole city pattern, as prescribed by the rule.

Fu Bonan, director with the Administration Committee of Urban Construction in Beijing, said that gray is a dominant tone formed naturally during the history of the city.

It is agreeable with the climate, cultural background and tradition here, said Fu.

Fu also said that diversity and variety are still encouraged so long as they blend well with other construction in the city.

It is also an attempt to transfer the appearance of China's capital, said Fu. Municipal government will carry out a cleansing work on the outside walls and windows of urban buildings.
