China Sets Up Research Center on Information Management
The State Research Center on Management of Information Resources in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, was set up in Nanjing University Saturday.
The research center won approval by the State Office for Promotion of Informatization, said local sources.
While concentrating on developing and utilizing information resources, the research center will engage in research on principles and methods regarding the management of information resources and provide information industrial departments with consulting services.
The center will also do research on how to use economic, legal, technological and necessary administrative means to coordinate thedistribution and use of information resources among different organizations, and on how to step up construction of information infrastructure and of management network for information resources.
Management of information resources has been the central part of the country's informatization cause and noticeable progress has been made in this regard since 1980s.
Up to now, internal networks have been established from central government departments to those at local levels. And gathering,
exchange and releasing of information among governmental organizations are realized via the net.
Other comprehensive and basic databases dealing with the economy, environment, science and technology, education, culture and public health have also been built.
