China's Central Bank Could Learn From Japan's Experience: Zhu

Premier Zhu Rongji said Friday that China's central bank, the People's Bank of China, could improve its supervisory role by learning from Japan's experiences.

Zhu said during a meeting with Hayami Masaru, president of the Bank of Japan, the central bank of Japan, that the reform carried out by the Japanese central bank has proved effective.

The central banks of China and Japan should increase exchanges and enable the People's Bank of China to refine its role of financial supervisor, he said.

Zhu said China hopes the Japanese economy can recover as soon as possible, because it will benefit both the region and the friendly cooperation between China and Japan.

The Japanese central bank president is here as guest of Dai Xianglong, governor of the People's Bank of China.
