China to Push Ahead With Its Electricity Network LinkageDuring the "Tenth Five Year Plan" period, China will have its construction of electricity network further strengthened and the work for the linkup of nationwide network pushed ahead.China's power industry has been gradually evolving from a development period of giant machinery, large power-plant and extensive electric network, and super-high voltage and automation into the stage for network linkage across the country, said an expert of the State Electricity Power Company. The fast development of electric industry in the "Ninth Five Year Plan" period has helped China bid farewell to the shortage in electricity supply. It is predicted that by the end of this year the installed capacity in China's power industry will come up to 314 million kw and the electricity generated will reach 1300 billion kw/h, which will make China a giant among the world-top power generating and consuming countries. During the "Ninth Five Year Plan" period, China invested more in the construction of electric network. Therefore, the reliability, flexibility and economy of electric network were greatly improved. Now, a electric network across seven provinces and regions of North China, Northeast China, East China, Central China and Northwest China as well as Sichuan and Chongqing Municipality plus the five independent electric networks at provincial level have come into being. Along with the construction of the projects for power transformation and transmission over the Three Gorges and the electric network linkage to be realized in the north and northeast, China is now going hammer and tongs at the linkage of cross-regional, cross-provincial networks so as to make the networking efficiency fully felt in transmitting electricity.
