China Builds More Student Apartments This Year: Officials
China will build 6.8 million square meters of student apartments this year, about one fourth of the floor space of existing student dormitories.
The
Shanghai
-based Wenhui Daily today quoted an official with the Ministry of Education as saying that the construction of around 25 million square meters of apartments is scheduled to be completed within three years.
The total floor space of students' dormitories is 23.8 million square meters, said the official.
The education ministry has encouraged universities across the country to build more student apartments to improve living conditions for students.
