China Protects Legal Rights of Young People

A national promotion drive on the protection of young peoples' legal rights was hosted Wednesday in this capital of central China's Hubei Province.

"Protecting young peoples' rights is an urgent need for social stability," said Zhao Yong, secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China.

Zhao called for related governmental departments at all levels to establish a comprehensive protection network on the rights of young people.

Familles, schools and social organizations should do more to protect the rights of young people, the official said. Young people also should improve their ability to protect themselves.

The city government of Wuhan has opened a service center to provide legal consultation and right protection for young people. In the Jiefang Street, a renowned commercial center in Wuhan, all business activities between shops and juvenile customers are under strict supervision in accordance with related regulation on protection of the rights of young people.

Over the past two years, China has set up 2,400 such supervision centers or offices for the protection of young peoples ' rights.
