Li Lanqing Meets Delegates to Int'l Conference on Primary Education
Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing met Thursday with delegates to the international conference on science and maths education for pupils.

The four-day event, which is being held in Beijing by China and the International Council of Scientific Unions, is aimed at promoting communications between scientists and schools,

increasing the public's awareness of science, and improving primary education worldwide.

Among those attending the conference are scientists and educationalists from more than 20 countries. Chairman Leon Lederman of International Council of Scientific Unions, who is a

winner of the Nobel Prize for Physics, also participated in the conference.

Chinese Minister of Education Chen Zhili attended the meeting.
