First-phase CNCnet Project Put into Trial Run
News from the China Netcom Co., Ltd. shows that the first-phase CNCnet project (China Netcom wide-band high speed internet) undertaken by the company to construct and operate was recently completed and put into test run after 15 months of intense work.
The completed first-phase project covers 8,490 kilometers, connecting 17 major cities: Beijing, Tianjin, Jinan, Hefei, Nanjing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Changsha, Wuhan, Nanchang, Zhengzhou and Shijiazhuang. The total length of the project will reach 12,000 kilometers by the end of this year.
CNCnet mainly provides high speed and large amount of information transmission and transfer. The total transmission band width reaches 40,000 mega. Sources say that as a whole, the CNCnet holds a leading position in domestic and international telecom networks.
Analysts think that the timely opening and test run of the CNCnet marks the first step taken by China Netcom on the road to infrastructure construction of China's electronic era. It also indicates the development of China's information industry from narrow band to wide band, and narrows the gap between China and other countries in information infrastructure construction, thereby laying the groundwork for the further prosperity and development of China's information technology industry.
