Chinese, Danish Churches to Build Formal RelationsA prominent Chinese religious leader said Wednesday in Copenhagen that the China Christian Council (CCC) and the Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELC) of Denmark have agreed to build formal relations and increase contacts between them.CCC President Han Wenzao made this remarks after his two-day visit here at the invitation of the Danish Church. The visit was short, but it achieved a lot, said Han in a telephone interview with Xinhua. It was the first time that a formal Chinese Christian delegation visited Denmark. The biggest achievement is that the two Churches have agreed to build formal relations, which will greatly promote contacts and cooperation, Han said . Next year, an ELC delegation will visit China to find out the situation of Christianism in the far east country while a delegation from the Chinese Christian organization will be sent to Denmark to study ELC's social welfare work. And more exchange will be made between Chinese and Danish theology researchers, Han added. The CCC delegation arrived here on Monday from Stockholm where it had extensive contacts with Swedish Churches.
