Compex Opens New Plant in China

Compex System Pte Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Stock Exchange of Singapore-listed Powermartic Data Systems Ltd and a developer of advanced networking equipment, has opened a new production plant in Shenzen, China, to meet greater demands for its products, a press release from the company said Wednesday.

The one-million-US-dollar plant, occupying an area of 30,000 square feet and employing some 500 workers, is designed to complement Compex's Singapore production plant and can produce up to 10,000 network interface cards as well as 1,000 hubs and switches each per day at full capacity, the press release added.

Compex's Vice President Katherine Fung was quoted as saying that "the new plant in Shenzen will ensure that we get to market quickly and be able to ramp up to meet the increase in demand and bring us closer to a plentiful supply of components and other production resources."

"China is going through a period of rapid expansion in its networking infrastructure," Fung stressed, noting "This has created a huge market and our new plant will enable us to tap this market and brings us closer to our customers."

Compex, established in 1987, is dedicated to manufacturing an extensive range of products meeting the increasing demand for network bandwidth at affordability for the masses.
