South Korean Fighter Missing in East Sea

An F-5E fighter plane of the South Korean Air Force went missing on a training mission in East Sea at around 4:10 p.m. Wednesday some 65 kilometers southeast of Kangnung, South Korea.

The Air Force said Wednesday evening that the fighter belongs to the 3155th unit of the Air Force.

The Air Force immediately sent two HH-60 helicopters to the site in search for the pilot and his aircraft after one of the two fighters participating in the training mission safely returned to base.

The search was still under way, according to the Air Force.
