The objectives of the international conference is to discuss the current development and governance in the Greater Mekong Subregion and to explore the different approaches to the promotion of cross-border cooperation as well as in identifying the key issues in this subregion.

The two-day conference also is aimed at promoting confidence-building measures within the GMS and to contribute toward better understanding and management of border issues. Meanwhile it is designed to enhance governance and development in the GMS.

The representatives from Cambodia, the Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and the Yunnan province of China as well as some foreign diplomats attended the conference.
