Israeli Tanks Shell Southern Gaza

At least three Palestinians were injured when Israeli tanks shelled the Palestinian city of Rafah in southern Gaza Strip on Monday, Palestinian security sources said.

The report said Israeli tanks opened fire after soldiers came under fire while removing a military vehicle damaged earlier Monday by a roadside bomb, which injured an Israeli officer.

Israeli troops at a military site near Rafah also fired about 10 missiles at the Rafah refugee camp, according to Palestinian security sources.

Israeli army denied both reports.

Meanwhile, sharp clashes cropped up between Palestinians and Israeli security forces in northeast Gaza on Monday. In the West Bank, clashes also took place in Hebron, Ramallah, Nablus, Beit Jala, Sahur and other areas.

According to official health sources, about 30 Palestinians have been injured on Monday in clashes with Israeli troops in the West Bank.

The clashes are expected to aggravate in the next few hours after the funeral procession of seven Palestinians killed by Israeli forces.
