China Builds World's Largest Postal Network

China has so far established the world's largest post network whether in terms of postal networks and routes, or of mail delivery equipment and means of transportation.

It's learned from the "2000 China International Telecom Equipment Exhibition" that the post transfer network of China presently covers 236 delivery centers, over 67,000 post offices, which have formed into a titanic modern express mail transmission network with more than 22.000 postal routes extending 2.98 billion-km, as well as over 30,000 post wagons and many other means of transportation like trains, ships, post planes and civil aviation.

Since September 1 of this year, the transfer speed of ordinary mails has been quickened by two to three days, and urban citizens in more than 2,300 cities and counties have enjoyed the quality service in that parcels are delivered to their homes free of charge since October 1. Online shopping, money-remitting, stamp-collecting, subscription of newspapers and magazines have become part of people's daily life.

China has established relations with 150 countries and regions around the world on the aspects of mail delivery so that Chinese mails and packages can be sent to any part of the world, express mails can be delivered to more than 200 countries and regions and international exchange business is available to about 20 countries and regions.
