Peru President Hopes to Expand Cooperation with China

Peru will continue to expand bilateral ties with China in the fields of trade, science, culture and education under the principle of free trade and competition, said Peruvian president Fujimori.

Fujimori made the remarks when he received credentials presented by Mai Guoyan, the Chinese ambassador in Peru.

He said Peru and China had a long friendship and that the friendship has turned into mutual understanding in terms of politics and diplomacy and consensus on international affairs.

He also said China has made tremendous progress in economic development since he took office ten years ago, and he hoped the two sides could strengthen cooperation. He expressed his gratitude for China's support in archaeology and medical aid.

Mai Guoyan said the Chinese government would work with the Peruvian government to consolidate relations between the two countries in the 21 century.
