Guangdong's High-tech Exports Increased by 47.3% in First Nine Months

This year has seen high-tech exports from Guandong Province a robust increase from month to month. According to the customs, from January to September, the high-tech goods exported from the province has come to a total of 12 billion US dollars, an increase of 47.3% over the same period of last year, accounting for 17.7% of the total foreign trade value of the province. The growth exceeds by far the increase rate of 24.8% of the other foreign trade exports in the corresponding period.

This is another step upwards following the 17.2% increase scored in 1999 by the province. Of every 100 US dollars increase in foreign trade exports, the high-tech ones gripped 28.6 US dollars in the first 9 months.

The exporting area is centered round the Pearl River Delta featured with high-tech products and industries heralded by Shenzhen and Dongguan. The market for export goods is still the Hong Kong SAR, America, Europe and other developed countries and regions. The products involve the fields of biotechnology, life science, photoelectric, computer, electronics and material technology, of which, exports of computer and communication technology totaled 2.96 billion US dollars, a rise of 51.5%, taking up 83% of the total high-tech export volume.
