Investment Environment of Taiwan Deteriorating

According to a public survey released on October 27 in Taiwan, 76.55 percent of the foreign investors thought that the investment environment in Taiwan had deteriorated. Meanwhile, Taiwan has fall from third two years ago to the last but one on the list of placing among 11 Asian countries and regions in terms of attractiveness to foreign investment.

This survey was conducted by Tien Hsia, a Taiwanese magazine, which has begun conducting biennial "Survey of Foreign Investment Intention" since 1994. The proportion of foreign investors surveyed who think the investment environment in Taiwan is deteriorating has risen from 25 percent at the beginning to a record high this year; at the same time, the proportion of foreign businessmen wishing to expand their investment in Taiwan has fallen to a new low of 15.17 percent.
