Two People Sentenced for Reputation Right InfringementTwo Nanjing residents were recently sentenced by a local court to publishing an apology on the Internet and 500 yuan in indemnity for reputation right infringement.Jiang Guobei, a resident from Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, and her brother Jiang Qingyun got into conflict with the Nanjing Children's Welfare Home when attempting to adopt an orphan from the welfare home earlier this year. The sister and brother then published two articles at sino.com, a major website on the Internet, criticizing the welfare home. The articles were later put on the first page of the website, resulting in a long discussion among local residents against the welfare home. The welfare home and its vice-director Hu Ming filed a suit, accusing the sister and brother of having 21 inaccurate points in the articles, which have sullied their reputation. The court held that the articles were badly inconsistent with the facts. |
