Xia Yan Film Literature Awards Announced In Hangzhou

To mark the 100th anniversary of late film artist Xia Yan, the fourth Xia Yan Film Literature Awards were announced in the capital of east China's Zhejiang Province.

"The Remote Baoer Grassland" by Chen Ping along with seven other film literature works won the awards.

Launched in 1997, the Xia Yan Film Literature Awards are presented to the most outstanding film scenarists in China.

Wang Gengnian, deputy director of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, highly praised the outstanding works and called on the artists to contribute more to China's movie industry.

Since 1997, some 55 literature works have won awards from 1,940 candidates. So far, 27 movies on the awarded works have been produced.

Xia Yan, born in Hangzhou in 1900, is regarded as the founder of China's progressive films.
